Overview

This position directly manages the provider enrollment of individual providers, physician clinics and ambulatory surgery centers. The position provides direct supervision to the provider enrollment specialists.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and management expertise to the Provider Enrollment Department.
  • Plans, organizes, directs the day-to-day operations of the Provider Enrollment team by creating a positive environment that encourages staff to perform at their highest potential.
  • Ensures that enrollments, revalidations and other necessary documentation is submitted to health plans within timeframes outlined in departmental SOP.
  • Enforces usage of credentialing software by all PE staff members.
  • Participates in weekly provider onboarding meetings, providing accurate and timely updates to operational and internal customers.
  • Responsible for the hiring, training, and supervision of department staff. Ensures that department policies are fairly administered by overseeing corrective action process, employee training, mentoring and coaching employees as well as completing performance reviews.
  • Initiates and facilitates the Provider Enrollment process for all providers and midlevel’s.
  • Participate in JOC meetings with payors as well as regularly communicating with payors and know when and how to appropriately escalate issues for resolution.
  • Communicates performance data and action plans to leadership.
  • Effectively does own due diligence and research and establishes solutions to bridge gaps in work processes that have disconnected due to turnovers, staff shortages or other extenuating circumstances.
  • Works without boundaries and advances own knowledge of other processes outside of the immediate job responsibilities. Maintains positive leadership and gives frequent performance feedback, and encourages two-way participation and ideas.
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of both state and federal regulations as well as payor requirements to ensure that all legal, licensure and accreditation standards, due dates and deadlines are met.
  • Performs all other assigned duties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience which would provide required knowledge
  • Requires 2 or more years in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Requires at least 4 years’ experience in provider enrollment in a multi-site healthcare practice
  • Ideal candidate will have experience with delegated credentialing
  • Expert level knowledge of provider enrollment concepts and processes
  • Expert level knowledge and understanding of Medicare PECOS and revalidation processes
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of provider enrollment that provides an effective partnership between the department’s teams and external hospital credentialing and provider enrollment staff
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of regulatory issues (CMS 855 fillings, HIPAA and privacy regulations, etc.)
  • Experience utilizing credentialing software for provider enrollment
