Overview

As a RCM Revenue Cycle Trainer, you’ll be responsible for conducting revenue cycle training from needs assessment to design and delivery. Candidates should be able to independently apply adult education theory with the understanding of workflows and current technology. The Revenue Cycle Trainer will develop, design, deliver and manage RCM new hire training programs, system upgrade training and testing, special projects, quality assurance, and compliance training. Ideal candidates will possess previous adult training or educational concepts experience, with the ability to self-manage/self-start task-based roles as assigned by RCM Leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Develops curricula and delivers end-user training for corresponding modules of EHR and Practice Management System, specializing in NextGen Practice Management module(s) for revenue cycle staff
  • Develops and maintains curricula such as lesson plans, manuals, and supporting learning tools utilized in training
  • Prepares and delivers presentations, demonstrations, train-the-trainer and end user classes, and special training courses as needed
  • Creates and publishes quarterly newsletters and other educational material
  • Keeps up-to-date on the following knowledge areas: Revenue Cycle workflows, revenue cycle software system upgrades and enhancements, clinic department operations, medicare regulations and commercial billing guidelines, adult education theory and technologies, and NextGen systems patient access and revenue cycle systems
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of 3rd party billing requirements and reimbursement principle.
  • Acts as a designated super user for patient accounting system
  • Assists in creating and maintaining master patient build in the training environment to support training and testing initiatives
  • Maintains a high level of organization, time management and delegation skills necessary to prioritize and adjust work flow as volume and deadlines mandate
  • Assists in diagnosing problems with files that fail compliance or do not process correctly
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required. BA/BS in Business Administration, Healthcare, Education, Finance or equivalent preferred
  • REQUIRED:  3+ years’ experience within revenue cycle management (specifically patient financial services/patient access) as an End-User Trainer/Adult educator within a healthcare environment, to include both in-person classroom instruction delivery and design
  • REQUIRED:  Demonstrated knowledge of revenue cycle applications 
  • REQUIRED:  Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specific but not limited to Power Point, Word, Visio, Forms, and Outlook
  • Proficient in application of adult learning concepts needed to effectively manage class curricula, and guide end-user understanding
  • Experience in NextGen EHR system, or other EHR software implementation training programs 
  • Working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS
  • Strong knowledge of CMS and Commercial payer guidelines and HIPAA Rules & Regulations
  • Effective and polished presentation and training delivery skills; ability to prioritize focus on topics based on audience level & time allotment
  • Expert conceptual, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong customer service focus
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high volume work environment
