The Patient Accounts Receivable (A/R) Manager oversees the daily operations of the Patient A/R team, with a primary focus on managing the inbound call center. This role is responsible for directing and coordinating all activities related to the revenue cycle to optimize cash flow, enhance the patient and physician experience, and maintain strong customer relationships. The Manager provides leadership and guidance to the Patient A/R team, supported by supervisory staff, to ensure efficient processes and timely resolution of outstanding accounts.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience within a healthcare revenue cycle department, preferably in patient accounts or A/R management
Proven leadership abilities with a demonstrated track record of motivating and developing teams through a positive and supportive management style
Experience leading teams in a high-volume call center environment, with demonstrated success in meeting service and performance goals
Strong analytical skills with experience managing to key performance indicators (KPIs), including regular reporting, performance tracking, and coaching teams to achieve metric-driven results
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables and advanced formulas), as well as PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
Experience working with NextGen practice management software preferred
High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
Thorough knowledge of CMS and payer guidelines: Strong understanding of CMS regulations, contracted insurance requirements, and medical coding policies
Tech-savvy and adaptable: Demonstrated computer literacy with the ability to quickly learn new systems and tools
Highly organized: Strong attention to detail with excellent time management and prioritization skills
Strong communication skills: Able to read, interpret, and follow both written and verbal instructions accurately
Analytical and numbers-driven: Excellent math and problem-solving skills to support accurate account management and reconciliation
Collaborative mindset: Proven ability to build and maintain positive, professional relationships with team members, clinic staff, payers, and patients
Exceptional customer service: Demonstrates professionalism, empathy, and clarity in all patient and partner interactions
