Overview

As a Systems Engineer III, you will serve as a senior technical resource responsible for architecting, building, maintaining, and troubleshooting AVP's IT infrastructure. You will act as a subject matter expert and escalation point within a team of engineers, demonstrating deep technical competence, reliability in delivering mission-critical infrastructure, and ensuring the highest levels of accessibility, optimization, and security. Qualified applicants will have an extensive background in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the management and monitoring of all installed systems and infrastructure
  • Oversee infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools
  • Proactively identify and remediate potential issues to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure accessibility
  • Monitor and test application performance, foreseeing potential bottlenecks and driving solutions to resolution
  • Collaborate with developers to implement fixes and improvements across infrastructure environments
  • Own and maintain security posture, including backup, redundancy, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Lead the evaluation, testing, and introduction of new software and hardware into Citrix and infrastructure environments
  • Design, build, test, and maintain servers, SAN/storage environments, and the VDI environment
  • Develop and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and reduce manual intervention
  • Partner with the team to design information and operational support systems
  • Author and maintain infrastructure, support, and procedure documentation to a high standard
  • Enforce configuration, change, and event management processes, procedures, and controls
  • Serve as primary escalation for 2nd and 3rd level infrastructure support
  • Act as a technical liaison with vendors and IT team members to drive issue resolution
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge-sharing
  • May be assigned additional duties as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field OR equivalent experience
  • REQUIRED:  10+ years of experience as an IT systems professional, with at least 3 years at a Systems Engineer III level or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience architecting and supporting complex, enterprise-scale infrastructure
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft technologies, Windows Server 2025 and below, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange 2019 and Office 365
  • Advanced knowledge of server maintenance, release management, and change control processes
  • Advanced knowledge of virtualization and containerization (Citrix Xen platform, VMware Horizon, ESXi)
  • Advanced knowledge of VMware platform administration, including vCenter, vSphere, ESXi host management, vMotion, HA/DRS clustering, and VM lifecycle management
  • Advanced knowledge of Storage SAN technologies, including design, implementation, administration, and support of SAN/NAS environments (e.g., PureStorage, Dell EMC, NetApp, or equivalent)
  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise backup solutions, including implementation and administration of Veeam Backup & Replication or equivalent platforms, with experience in backup policy management, recovery testing, and offsite/cloud retention strategies
  • Advanced knowledge of systems availability, backup, and disaster recovery disciplines
  • Solid LAN/WAN skills (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
